5.75-Inch Chipping Capacity

The PRO XL575 is designed to chip branches up to 5.75 inches in diameter. Its large 19-inch x 30.5-inch hopper opening can accommodate substantial branches and side growth with little or no trimming, helping simplify the process of preparing material for chipping.

Self-Feeding Action

The PRO XL575 combines a vertically oriented hopper, precisely angled heavy-duty chipping knife, and air channel to help pull branches into the chipping hopper and move wood chips through the discharge.

Most materials are designed to self-feed once placed into the hopper, reducing the need to manually force branches into the machine. This allows the operator to move on to the next branch while the chipper processes the material.

Electric Start and DR® OHV Engine

The PRO XL575 is equipped with a DR® OHV engine rated at 12 HP with 19.6 ft-lbs. of gross torque*. Electric starting is standard on this model.

Heavy-Duty Flywheel

The PRO XL575 features a 20-inch-diameter flywheel weighing 62.5 pounds. The flywheel provides the rotating mass used by the chipper knife to process wood. According to the manufacturer, the flywheel spins at 144 mph and takes approximately 40 “bites” per second.

Commercial-Grade Centrifugal Clutch

The PRO XL575 uses a commercial-grade centrifugal clutch similar to those used in well drilling. The clutch is designed so there is no load on the engine until it reaches 1,600 rpm.

If a particularly difficult branch causes the engine speed to drop to 1,600 rpm, the clutch automatically disengages the engine until the engine returns to operating speed.

Oversized Chipping Hopper

The 19-inch x 30.5-inch hopper opening is designed to accept branches up to 5.75 inches in diameter with little or no trimming of side branches.

Towing Options

A pin hitch for towing with a lawn tractor or ATV is included as standard equipment. An optional Road-Tow package is also available.

According to the manufacturer, the optional Road-Tow package allows the chipper to be towed on roads at speeds up to 45 mph.

Extended Discharge Chute

The PRO XL575’s high discharge is designed to accept an optional swiveling extended discharge chute. The chute can turn 180 degrees, allowing wood chips to be directed toward a pickup truck, container, or other desired discharge area.

PRO-SPEC™ Chipper Knife

The PRO XL575 features a hardened steel PRO-SPEC™ chipper knife made from high-carbon/high-chromium forged alloy tool steel. The manufacturer states that the knife is designed to hold its cutting edge longer than those used on lower-cost chippers.

As with any cutting tool, maintaining a sharp knife is important for maintaining proper performance. The manufacturer recommends keeping a replacement knife available to help minimize downtime when maintenance is required.
